Aligning with these internal teams is crucial for a successful partner program. Here’s my approach: First, I start with empathy. Each team has unique goals and workflows, so I make it a priority to understand what matters to them. We then find common ground on shared goals like improving customer experience and product value. Next, I tailor communication—data-driven insights for ops, storytelling for creative, etc.—to meet each team’s style. Lastly, I focus on consistency by celebrating small wins and adjusting as we go. When internal partnerships thrive, so does the entire program.

Understand how each team works. A frequent and often incorrect assumption is that teams working in a partnership have similar working styles. Being incentivised to achieve a partnerships mission is one thing, how teams work to achieve the mission is quite another. To bridge a working style gap start with an open conversation with both teams in a room. Dive deep into how they work and communicate and the routines and rituals that take place each day. I prioritise fostering effective communication between teams, as most challenges can be overcome through clear and empathetic dialogue. This investment pays off in smoother collaboration and stronger outcomes.
