Program KPI should consists of customer focused metrics as well as internal metrics like profitability, time to market and NRE. This is done by ensuring that the goals and metrics at each level and function within the company are aligned, sustainable, and supported by everyone. This can be ensured by having candid conversations with every employee by their manager to ensure they know how their efforts uniquely support each metric and goal. The true test of this is allowing any visitor, to pick out a random employee and having them brief the metrics that apply to their area. When you have that confidence, even for senior level customers, you can be confident your program/organization is aligned.
