The steps to go through this is - 1) Micro analysis of each Job - Job Demand- Specific Activity in it- Compulsory activities and what can u modify. once u know the data on this go for.. 2) Actul problems that are being faced in above - Any pains they are facing, mental health scale, physical problems, etc.. 3) Then we design the workstation as per the job demand- eg if sales department is sitting and calling continuously things they will need must be there- Organizatinal: > sound absorption pads > motivating colours that can stimulate the brain with a wall to calm them down > Relaxation room/space Personal: > accessiblility of phone > Bone conduction headphones > Mouse and keyboard to keep the data update Many more ..

Start with a needs assessment to understand individual preferences and workflow requirements. Implement modular furniture and flexible workstations to allow for personalisation. Create separate zones for various jobs, such as collaboration areas, silent places, and personal workstations. Integrate ergonomic solutions and provide access to natural light to improve overall well-being. Promote a clean-desk philosophy to keep things organised while yet allowing for personal touches like photographs or plants. Regularly request comments to improve the layout. Balancing personal expression with organisational efficiency results in a more productive and engaging workplace.

First and foremost you need to define what efficiency means to you. Make sure you don’t mean effects but mistake it from efficiency. After you get your objectives and measurements straightened out you can move on to learning about your resources and I mean on a deeper level. What do they do, how do they do it and when do they thrive doing what they do and when do they struggle. Find out underlying drivers and needs and then you might be better of matching a well designed space with the right variation for your employees unique needs. Good luck!

When redesigning workspace layouts, personalization approaches vary by office type. In Activity-Based Working environments, personalization focuses on shared areas through team pegboards, personal lockers, and collaborative spaces that reflect team identity. This allows employees to maintain a sense of belonging while maximizing space efficiency. For offices with dedicated desks, personalization happens directly at workstations while maintaining professional standards. The key is establishing guidelines that balance personal expression with functional requirements, including defined boundaries for personal items, modular furniture systems, and standardized storage solutions that keep the workspace productive and organized.
