In my experience, the best way for companies to cut costs while managing IT Outsourcing projects is to: 1. Hire cost efficient offshore teams from countries such as Sri Lanka which provide lower costs without sacrificing quality. 2. Ensure your team has at least 4-5 years of specific experience even if not the 7-8 years of experience which is preferable though more expensive to hire. 3. Plan to have experts with knowledge of efficient development strategies such as Scrum and/or DevOps as part of the team. 4. Stay in regular communication to ensure any misunderstandings are cleared so as to reduce reworks as much as possible. Reworks increase costs. And most importantly give ample time and push hard. Harried developers tend to make misses.
