The difference between an in-house and outsourced function is proximity to the purpose and culture. This may lead the outsourced function teams drifting away. This may be catastrophic in relation and value perception in the view of the customer. Therefore a layer must be built on top of the usual service level agreement and governance framework to keep the outsourced function team oriented towards customer business and culture.

In this context, one of the things I admire about Agile practices may help, the triad: Transparency, achieved through effective communication. Adaptability, focusing on understanding challenges and adjusting the course as needed. Inspection, continuously assessing progress to enable swift decision-making. These principles foster collaboration, drive improvement, and ensure alignment with goals.

Use effective communication tools for updates and transparency. 4. Schedule regular check-ins to address challenges and align priorities. 5. Empower the team with autonomy while holding them accountable. This approach drives results through clarity, trust, and accountability.

Ensuring top performance from an outsourced IT team starts with setting clear expectations and measurable goals upfront. I establish regular check-ins to track progress without micromanaging and use collaborative tools for real-time updates. Building trust is key, so I focus on fostering open communication and providing support when needed. By aligning the team with the project vision and empowering them to take ownership, I create a productive partnership that thrives without constant oversight

Very interesting, managing high performance from an outsourced team without burning mid night oil and micromanagement. Here re some key things, I would advise: 1. Move from input/ efforts/ T&M based to fixed price/ outcome based. 2. Do it in a collaborative manner, spend more time setting expectations, success criteria from all stakeholders holders. 3. Work backwards from outcome to collaboratively define POD(team composition) ensuring they are product oriented without any skill gaps. 3. Define shorter intermediate milestones and build governance (people, process and tools) around these. 4. Tie down a performance reward model with the vendor (outsourced leader) 5. If the program is complex, request performance dashboards.

Empower the outsourced IT team by shifting focus to outcomes, not micromanagement. In a recent project, implementing a results-driven framework with clear KPIs improved efficiency by 30%. Introduce automated progress dashboards and reward ownership of tasks—this builds accountability, boosts morale, and ensures high performance with minimal oversight.

Sticking to the throughput. Like most challenges, it's simple and hard to do at the same time. It must be done though as burnout is an ever increasing challenge and the people must feel they have a shield.
