In all the teams I have led, I have had extroverted people and they are the members who shine the most when they have the opportunity. The following steps are key: First, make known the objective to be achieved. Generate the 1:1 space with the team members. Ensure an environment of trust but challenging for the generation of ideas. understand who can help you unlock, challenge and make hidden talents visible. Ensure a safe, curious and active listening environment so as not to block ideas. Include feedback and accompaniment. Always recognize innovatively. Finally, it is important to generate trust in your team by being a leader with credibility, this will unlock any person who is introverted so that they can deliver their maximum potential.

I am an introvert. I have led teams with both introverts and extroverts and been a mixed team member. Some of the suggestions I see here are good, others less so in my opinion. We don’t need to be”pushed to interact with other people”. Many of us do not have a problem with public speaking or speaking up in a bigger group - it is more nuanced than that. I find that mindful and effective listening is a talent to be honed by everyone.I feel that the emphasis on networking being essential to progress is unhelpful. There is too much emphasis on random encounters with seniors to open doors. Fair leaders do not create exclusive face time through off- work activities. Lastly, open plan offices can overwhelm the senses at times. Consider this.
