The best way to achieve work-life balance is a combination of time management and coordination with your manager. You have to remember that to the person who created the task, theirs is the most important and highest priority. It is the job of your manager to manage their resources. When the work you have on your task list exceeds the work you can get done in a workweek, then tell them and let them prioritize. There are also some easy things you can do to help ensure your work-life balance. Block off your lunch hour and breaks on your calendar. If you work 9-5, then mark yourself busy between 6 pm and 8 am when you are not on-call.
