Throughout my years of experience and working in multiple industries and geographies, I have found that gaining support and understanding begins very much with the stakeholders and the ability to relate to people. Close relationships, deep understanding of the needs and challenges plus being able to articulate a clear beneficial impact across an organization is key. The tangible benefits to the organization whether it be efficiencies, greater customer service, reduced lead time, reduced costs etc must be clearly laid out. Feedback and listening to the views and thoughts of these stakeholders is also key to prioritizing the right technology and fit at the right time.
