You keep it simple by treating it like every other event. Let guests know the theme if there is one, what will be on the menu, ask for allergies, dietary or religious restrictions and do your best to accommodate. In most cases this is more than enough. Unless the theme is all around the world everyone doesn’t need to be represented—but they should be respected. Being honest and setting expectations up front is the best way to go and don’t forget the most important part: it’s a celebration. So have fun!
-
Let a diverse group of employees plan the event. The worst thing to do is to plan it on your own without input. Share your power and trust them. Give them a budget and ask them to present their ideas. Support them. Try not to control it!

Hosting a diverse holiday celebration requires a deep understanding of different cultures, including their food, music, decorations, and even the timing of celebrations. The modern workplace has become increasingly diverse, and organizations are recognizing the importance of accommodating different cultural and religious observances. Offering flexible holiday options, such as restricted holidays, allows employees to choose which days to take off based on their personal needs and beliefs. This approach creates a more inclusive and respectful work environment especially when employees extend invitations to their friends and colleagues to partake in their celebrations.

Take everyone's opinions. Look at what they prefer and what they don't. Consider things that cannot be compromised on. Based on all of these one can curate a list of options that everyone gets to choose from and contribute their say. Take a vote of the majority before coming to the final plan and make sure everyone gets to vote to put their opinion. These can be a few ways to make people feel included.

Seek opinion from all and share their thoughts and experiences based on respective cultures to keep it more vibrant n participative

When I hosted my first holiday celebration, I decided to have a "Cultural Potluck," inviting everyone to bring a dish from their background. The table was a colorful feast—biryani from my Bangladeshi friends, tamales from my Mexican neighbors, and some adventurous fusion dishes that made me question my cooking skills! To keep everyone engaged, I had guests share a holiday tradition from their culture. We laughed as we discovered that while some families sang carols, others danced to Bollywood hits! It was a night of fun and connection, proving that food and stories truly bring people together. Plus, I scored some great recipes for next year!
-
Allow everyone to show up as they are. Have no expectations and don’t worry about it. Your stress and insecurities will bleed onto your guests. If you are relaxed and accepting, they will be too. If they are not- they will leave and the problem is solved.
