And also we must show that BIM is a tool to support and not to replace.

Change is inevitable. Even transitioning to new and improved software can be a challenge. I often challenged my staff to try it and let me know in 2-weeks if they want to return to the old version. Almost every time, the pushback on going back too! All that said is to say, senior staff have been through change before and it will continue to happen in the future. Point that out in your conversation. Ask permission to test a small aspect of BIM on the next project. Ask if you can come in on your time to recreate something from a past project to show the time and cost savings. Consider the pushback a negotiation. It doesn't need to be a one-way street.
