I like to view network performance over longer periods of time. If we are having issues with connectivity or high retransmission rates on a host I will bring up the host in our monitoring tool and view performance graphs over a week, a month, six months to see if the data tells a story. Sometimes you can find an anomaly in the data that can provide a lead to an issue. I would check other hosts in proximity for the same issues. If I can find a common time stamp where issues began I would then check to see if we had any changes in the space. If it’s isolated to the one interface then maybe just a remove and reload or maybe a controlled draw down and restart with windows. Linux I would restart network network service and observe.
