Best way to deal in such situations are Accept: it is okay to not to know the advanced skill sets the young minds are pro at you can always learn from them accepting you don't know the same is absolutely fine. Acknowledgement : when you acknowledge the fact that your next gen team members know something which you wanna learn from them build trust, ownership. And a sense of transparency within the team . Appreciate: appreciate their thoughts, channelize their energy with your experience, help them to learn the art of mutual appreciation of knowledge and experience.

First, "get to know you" and then be approachable! Second, be flexible and appreciate & reward in open!! Third, be ready to learn them by sharing your insights through experiences at the same time!!! Treat them Great because they are fast and adaptive and you have more humility.

To bridge generational gaps among failure analysis engineers in my team, I do focus on promoting mutual support and leveraging diverse perspectives. I do encourage open communication by creating spaces where team members can share their insights and experiences. Nurturing mentorship, pairing seasoned or experienced engineers with younger ones to exchange technical expertise and fresh ideas. I do Celebrate shared goals, such as delivering exceptional analyses, while recognizing individual contributions. It is advisable to use team-building activities and training sessions within bigger teams to enhance collaboration and ensure everyone feels valued, regardless of age or experience.

Listening is key. Listening not only with your ears but also with your eyes. Different generations have different ways of communicating, so it is important to understand those nuances. Also stay open minded to learn from them, and this goes for younger and older team members. A simple survey can also help understand the different ways they like to be celebrated, and to receive feedback. Collaboration needs to be also diverse, and that could also mean having different generations working exclusively with their own on certain projects. You may wonder how that would increase inclusivity? I have my theory.

Throughout my career I have often encountered generational gaps, the last one being very recently. From my experience, such gaps are easily overcome when: 1.- We are able to understand that veterans bring experience, savoir faire, experiences, ..., which can be of great help to young people when they are shared to add, not to impose 2.- When we understand that young people bring freshness, new visions, energy, proximity to the market, ..., which allow us to have other points of view with the idea of adding If we combine both visions from respect, humility, and the desire to add, we are a little closer to the success of the team

Engage in brainstorming sessions & keep seeking suggestions, so they don’t feel left out. Encourage through recognitions and bonding initiatives which creates the pride feeling of being a team contributor Empathise with the situation and give an assurance of always being available for support Empower to take decisions of course under close supervision

It's taking one topics and covering all facets. Even taking generation based myths and having conversations around it. Having roles written on pieces of paper placed into a bowl with one scenario and each person taking as per the roles they picked. These are activities that can be done to create more empathy and understanding to bridge the generational gap.

In my experience, creating the right culture & environment is key. If the team is empathetic, and emotionally mature , half the battle is already won. To further bridge generational gap, I would - Ensure that the views and perspectives of each age group are heard and acknowledged. - Encourage collaboration to build stronger bonds between generations. - Pair team members from different age groups in a mentorship program, to share experiences & learn from each other. - Offer training on conflict resolution, empathy, and navigating age differences to help the team work better together. Show inclusive behavior and be approachable, creating a culture where team members feel comfortable sharing feedback and suggestions.
