From my perspective for data migration in case of servere network migration first part comes as always as the backup part ensure all points of data is securely backuped along with all configuration files . You can split the data and configuration backup seperately for a extra care and try to restore the configuration backup to the mainframe so that you can test all functionalities are ready to implemented on the new migrated servers or network. Then you can push push old data to servers ensuring a smooth transition on migration. Second part is ensure correct methods for backups are taken to transfer the data. So that no data is missed during migration. Third part as always testing the post migration setup so we can ensure everything good
