You're facing conflicting opinions on AR project timelines. How do you ensure everyone stays on track?
When differing opinions threaten your AR project's schedule, it's essential to steer everyone back on course. Try these strategies:
- Establish a shared vision by reiterating the project goals and deadlines to all stakeholders.
- Use a collaborative tool to track progress and highlight dependencies, ensuring transparency.
- Schedule regular check-ins to address concerns and adjust timelines as needed collaboratively.
How do you handle timeline conflicts in your projects? Looking forward to your strategies.

As a project coordinator, it’s important to stay aware of what your team is producing and the average time each task takes. Aligning expectations and performance with everyone ensures that when the project is finalized with the client, the timeline set is realistic, avoiding frustration. Teamwork is essential to meet deadlines, with collaboration being key. However, for the team to function as an integrated unit, maintaining a positive team relationship is crucial.

The eventuality of shifting to the right is no different with AR/VR/XR applications as it is with all other domains. In my experience, the fielding of advanced tactical equipment often results in technical problems difficult for the average for the project team to understand and tackle. Take a moment to step back, and go back to the basics. The learning curve is immense. Go back to the baseline; have too many features been added? Are you shooting for the moon in Rev 1? Align to the RFP and offer the the future developments to the customer - but always develop to the baseline! Starting small and growing the AR product is a good tactic here.

When a team is designing an AR experience, people often get carried away by the many possibilities this technology has to offer and this often leads to a simple idea suddenly exploding with additional features. This not only causes issues with budgets and timelines, but also ends up turning into a convoluted mess of an experience no user can ever enjoy. Therefore, focus on the core problem you want to solve and make sure every resource spent on the project is aligned with a clear vision.
