Working on a design under pressure is a test of endurance and creativity. In such moments, it is important to be able to switch. Sometimes it's worth taking a break and looking at the task from a different angle to find fresh ideas. Inspiration can come from unexpected places, for example, during a walk, a conversation with a colleague or studying someone else's work. But most importantly, it's a state of mind. Creativity is not only about inspiration, but also about the daily work that helps us find solutions even in the most difficult situations. Pressure is only a part of the process, not its determining factor.

Here are few ideas for how to stay productive and creative in difficult circumstances. Use Your Deadlines. Reduce Your Distractions. Talk About It Constructively. Give Yourself A Break. Look For Inspiration.

To keep creativity alive under constant strain, create a disciplined schedule that includes time for brainstorming and inspiration. Engage in a variety of activities to spark new ideas, such as examining art, nature, or other civilisations. To avoid burnout, maintain a healthy work-life balance. Create a collaborative atmosphere in which team members may share their views and comments. Use innovative tools and strategies to visualise ideas. Continue to be open to fresh viewpoints and continual learning. Prioritise self-care to maintain mental and emotional health, which fosters long-term creativity.

Its incredibly easy to feel "stuck" when under pressure. Recognizing what type of stressors you respond well to (and what you don't) is going to be key in how effective you are for your clients. Self-care is a must and its okay to take a moment to regulate. I try to handle time sensitive tasks by "planning" out the steps needed to complete the order. I include several small breaks to allow myself to stretch and walk away so when I am back on task its fresh. There is always a sketchbook (or post-it) handy for a quick doodle or to jot down idea's so creativity doesn't become stagnant.

Creativity thrives under pressure when passion meets purpose. For me, staying inspired involves embracing constraints as opportunities rather than limitations. I fuel my creativity by seeking inspiration beyond architecture—exploring art, nature, and diverse cultures. Collaboration is also key; exchanging ideas with others often sparks unexpected solutions. Most importantly, I remind myself that every challenge is a chance to innovate, pushing boundaries and redefining possibilities. Creativity isn’t just about inspiration—it’s about resilience and curiosity, even when the clock is ticking.
