When crafting a one-page resume, choose clean, professional fonts like Calibri, Arial, or Garamond for readability. Use font sizes between 10-12 points for body text and 14-16 points for headings to ensure clarity without crowding. Bold headings and section titles to create visual hierarchy and guide the reader's eye. Maintain consistent spacing and avoid decorative fonts, which can appear unprofessional or cluttered. Use 1-inch margins but adjust slightly if needed to fit content. White space is key—prioritize essential information and use concise bullet points to keep the layout balanced and impactful.

Good luck if you can get all your experience on one page! I'm happy when I can manage it for clients, but most times, you'll need two pages (and sometimes three!). That said, I always start with .75" margins and 10.5-point font (Aptos or Calibri) for the body, 12-point font for the section titles, and 16–20-point font for the name. Single space the document so you'll have a full line between positions. White space helps the content pop. Use dividers / titles for each section (e.g., experience, education); I often color these to make them more impactful. And only use bullets for accomplishments so they draw in the eye.

To choose fonts and sizes for maximum impact and efficiency, you need to first make sure that the design of your resume is neat and tidy. This is so that it would look nice and professional. You need to then make sure that the fonts used aren't too big or small. For example, if it's for a header, you should choose a bigger and more attractive font. If it's for the contents, it should be smaller but not too small. You must then choose styles of font that aren't too colourful and too cursive. This is to avoid those who are reading your resume from being confused or misunderstand it.

When crafting a one-page resume, the choice of fonts and sizes is critical for readability, professionalism, and efficient use of space. We need to keep below things in mind. 1. Font Style 2. Font Size (Name: 16-18 pt, Headings/Section Titles: 11-14 pt, bold and Body Text: 10-12 pt) 3. Spacing, Layout and design 4. Formatting should be proper, neat, and clean. 5. Consistency should be there in fonts.

Crafting a one-page resume means every choice should enhance both readability and impact. When selecting fonts, opt for clean, professional styles that are easy on the eyes, like Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri. Aim for a font size of 10 to 12 for the body text. For headers, you can bump up the font size slightly (e.g., 14 to 16) to draw attention to section titles like "Experience," "Education," and "Skills." Remember, white space is your friend. It makes your resume appear cleaner and less overwhelming. If extending to a second page means a more reader-friendly layout, it’s perfectly acceptable. This approach ensures your resume is not only impactful but also pleasant to look at and read.

Select professional, easy-to-read fonts like Calibri, Arial, or Garamond. Use a font size of 10 to 12 points for the main text and slightly larger sizes (14 to 16 points) for section headers to ensure clarity and hierarchy. Avoid decorative fonts or excessive bolding that can clutter the layout. Maintain consistent spacing and margins, typically between 0.5 to 1 inch, to balance content and white space. This approach keeps your resume visually appealing while maximizing readability and ensuring efficient use of limited space.

I suggest using no more than 2 font types and sizes. To arrange the information neatly and ensure the lines align, you can prepare the resume in a table format and hide the boarders. Prior to writing the CV, think what key messages about your experience you want to convey.

Regardless of the size of your resume (1 page or 2) we don't want to do ANYTHING that will distract the reader from the problems you will solve for them! Weird fonts, lines, colors, graphics and the like will only harm your chances of getting 100% of your reader's attention in the few seconds they will look at your resume.

In one word: DON'T! Maybe that is a bit dramatic. (but maybe it isn't). The majority of clients that I work with leave with a 2-page resume. If you are trying to cram everything onto 1-page, then you are probably doing yourself a disservice. In fact, many clients who come to me with a 1-pager have funky formatting, columns, and weird designs. And guess what? They aren't receiving any interviews. Unless you are less than 5 years out from graduating, don't stress out about a 2-page resume. It is perfectly fine. And perfectly normal. Instead worry about more important things. Like: -Is it formatted well? -Is it tailored to the job? -Does it tell a story? -Does it list achievements? -Do I have enough numbers on it?
-
Use simple, professional fonts like Calibri or Arial for a clean look. Keep text at 10–12 points for readability and use 14–16 points for bold headers to stand out. Focus on making it easy to scan—use spacing wisely and avoid clutter. A clear, organized layout leaves a stronger impression than flashy fonts.
