Things can get lonely in a high-profile position. Such an executive client does not need knowledge, training, or consulting. What they typically look for is someone to confide in and to share the burden of the air being thin up there. What I really to prove here is my expertise in the coaching process and to help them feel absolutely safe to share what they really need to focus on. I've noticed that advising or even trying to prove expertise in the client's own functional area likely just backfires. I remember one of my mentors saying, "We build a relationship with such a client when we understand what they really really realy really REALLY want. Hardly anything matters more."
