Once you have clarity, share it with your team and work with them to outline a plan of action, identify key milestones, define ownership of different aspects of the project, and come up with a realistic timeline. You can then approach the client with a plan that everyone feels good about.

It is not unusual for clients who have encountered bad experiences to entertain doubts when dealing with new stakeholders. Firstly, I will ask lots of questions to try and understand the underlining issues why the Client may be having such doubts. Secondly I will ensure we set and agree on clear expectations that can be measured and are achievable within the given duration for project completion. I will ensure that unrealistic targets are not set just to gain the contract or acceptance. Being honest with what can be delivered based on our competencies and capacity is key. No point in over promising and ending up by underperforming. Honesty is still the best policy.
