This leads to avoidable misalignment, mistrust, wasted time and lackluster outcomes. Consider beginning with curiosity. Ask your team why they are hesitant, and then truly listen. Allow them to reveal the perceived barriers to their engagement, so that together you can work on effective ways to address and remove and/or overcome them. Not only will you have deeper participation in the leadership program, you will have gained the trust and committment of those you are fortunate enough to lead.
