In order to ensure their productivity stays on track we must have the backup in place. If there is no backup available then in that case network team should collect the required information from user about the issue and check for any changes occurred in network if it triggers the issue and based on the results they can proceed further to perform the troubleshooting. In order to avoid disruptions in future we have to proactively test the network and performs failover and load testings at regular interval of time.

A remote team facing network challenges would require the use of a backup or alternative connection. The following are connectivity alternatives to consider for continuity: > Terrestial connectivity - Fibre, ADSL etc > Satellite connectivity - VSAT, LEO satellite like Starlink, Eutelsat, avanti etc > Cellullar connectivity - any cellular provider, you can have as many links as you want depending on service availability. Enhancements like VPN and host-level ZTNA with embedded VPN can help to allow users to continue accessing corporate resources even if they are no longer connected to main corporate connectivity like fibre.

To keep a remote team productive during network issues, I’d focus on being prepared. Having backup options like mobile hotspots ensures work doesn’t stop. Using cloud tools like Google Drive helps everyone access and collaborate on files easily. Clear communication about downtimes and backup plans keeps things organized and reduces stress for the team.

From personal experience with my remote team, I always ask them to have the following items as backup: - 4G or LTE Internet - Hotspot enabled on their phone - Battery backup or power generator - A Cafe or somewhere to go that does have internet - Extra USB Wireless Card Keep in mind that the costs for these items are relatively low, specially in non US countries, but some do have monthly costs. Using file synching tools like SharePoint, Dropbox, Egnyte, Google Drive, allows users to synch files offline. This allows them to continue working without internet. Outlook also has a cached mode, while lets employees work on their emails while their offline. iPads with LTE internet is also a great backup option people love.
