When a client’s needs surpass the agreed-upon scope, it’s crucial for me to address the situation promptly. I start by discussing the additional services they require and assess whether these align with what I offer. If they fall within my expertise, I outline the expanded scope, including updated timeframes and pricing, to ensure transparency. If the new needs are beyond my scope, I explain to my client that I will bring in someone from my professional network who can provide the necessary support. I clearly communicate how this collaboration will work, ensuring they understand the value and seamlessness of the process. This approach helps me maintain trust while ensuring the my client’s evolving needs are met.

I regularly had clients trying to extend the agreed coaching session. At first I was nice about it and even thought that I add value to my service by giving them more time. In the end I calculated how much time I spent just giving them extra time. Now, I state about 10 to 5 minutes before the end of the session that we are finished soon. This way I can wrap up the session in a good way, even better than before. Because I prepare the client for the end of the session I can already make him think about the next session and also give him 'homework' and make him curious.
