This entire solar loan industry needs to be governed and the rates and fees should be disclosed at the point of sale so consumers can make an educated decision. ITC is not a guarantee and can be completely wiped out when you add a solar loan when the fees surpass the possible and not guarenteed tax credit.

Indian power distribution companies do provide certain amount of discount on the monthly power bills when solar hot water systems are installed and used by the consumer. Returns of grid feed from solar panels are difficult to obtain from the power distribution companies, bill discounting is possible.

I guess one of the best options as well is the PPA OR IPP for mid and high consumers where you pay for the amount energy being consumed and after a commitment period you get an option for what we call a buyout which in my opinion considered as an attractive alternative .

No or very small down-payment and only a monthly fee while you gain the benefit of your "own" power generation. If it is for: Community use - mini-grid type solutions above 20kW, then community buy-in is required for land, donor/ government support for a subsidy may be required to reduce the tariff, and Productive Use of Electricity (PUE) should be highly considered to make the system sustainable. Standalone Solar Units (SAS/ SHS) - Asset financing via a commercial bank or MFI or via a 3rd party leasing firm should be considered. For commercial purposes (C&I) solar - Then PPAs and low-interest rate financing options are the way to go while also considering energy efficiency options to optimize the use of power
