In most of the client based manufacturing industry, most CAD designers get 2D drawings to make a 3D model out of it.Things need to keep in mind while doing this: 1. Ask for detailed 2D views as each dimension really counts in the final output. 2. Use the isometric views as it shows majorly how the product will look in 3D view. 3. Conduct regular design review meetings so keep alignment with clients.

Actually, I disagree with this. Switching to 3D CAD modelling from 2D comes with more advantages than the disadvantages. It helps imagining things better and expands your thinking capacity, making you spend more time developing new iterations or alterations to the existing design. There might be one very obvious obstacle, which is an initial learning curve to adapt to the new 3D tools. However, these tools also aid in brainstorming design ideas and let's you expand your thinking by allowing you to create the same design using different methods.

This is really interesting in industrial sector, because for civil and architecture commodity clearly visualize the 2D drafted drawing while utility setup engineer/project Engineer do need 3D CAD he transformers it to reality. In my opinion: 1. For any projects designer must create 3D CAD model like digital twin with brief details. 2. As per commodity Requirements we can share 2D or 3D. 3. Continuous enhancement of the CAD design need to do during the on going project. 4. 2D or 3D file designer need to work on detailing with conceptual approach, which will help to understand by 2D/3D person.

This paper studies a 3D model‐based definition (MBD) approach to the design development work at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. . In addition, it reduces project risk by enabling early validation of the design.
