Always have preplanning at your disposal. I personally get a Gantt Chart made by my project executives, that involves even decision making of resources and aligning them to work. Every project has its own timelines. Include additional timelines for hiccups that occur during the ongoing work process. Regular check-ins are necessary to maintain the work-flow. If there are delays still occurring at work, it's time for you to re-assess your process, make adjustments, rearrange your resources and tackle disputes, if those are the hinderances to your smooth completion. By staying organised and responsive, one can minimise setbacks and keep the project on track as much as possible.

To avoid this, actions need to be taken before contracts are signed and finalized. Define specific timelines in the contracts and expected projects completion goals. Once execution starts you need to blindly follow this. Here follow up and pre-reminders are key. Give pre-reminders no matter how many times you need to, to ensure that deadlines are met on time.
