As designers, we are expected to contribute to business success. The best way to do so is to design in a manner that aligns business goals and user interests with each other. It may be sometimes necessary to nudge users to a path that is beneficial for business but never do this by misguiding users, withholding critical information or preventing users from taking other options.

You are always building for the future user. With the lightspeed pace of change worldwide, current business goals are already out of date. Be bold and build something that the business is not ready for. By doing so, you will be claiming a future that doesn't yet exist. While everyone else is scrambling to adapt, you will have positioned your organization perfectly to meet your future user's requirements.

I would add - Value. Why? Because without business justification how value will be realised (when creating new product or change) or lost (in case current unsatisfactory business or technical pain is not resolved). Example of positive value 1; New product / New market - business value we introduced our service to new (not existing) buyers / users and thus generated additional revenue or created future revenue stream (value created). Example of negative value 2: Compliance - new EU regulations (e.g. DORA) mandates all banks to company by January 2025, if not bank will get fine (value lost). These are few examples but there are many. So always start with value.

Considering that IT as a service affects, in large scale, the value chain system of almost every business, as such it should be considered that there is always room for more BPR that can help every business unit to adapt in change. Having said that, it is more than obvious that its crucial for every strategic plan to include the right IT architecture that will allow exactly that.... To adapt in change and innovation almost "proactively" by having the "native" flexibility in their technology that their "future BPR" will need .... by design"
