I partly disagree with this statement as the outcome is completely dependent on sanity of data. Data source, time period, seasonal impact & impact of calamity has to be neutralized. After cleansing all this data the remaining data are a skeleton only. You need unnecessary extrapolation & assumption. I was a part of such big data analysis for an organization the outcome were surprising. It was totally dependent on believe shift. Unfortunately if you work with conservative methods to calculate then it becomes difficult to draw a perfect conclusion. If no other option available data driven discisions may be helpful.
