Suppliers have to get rid of stock depending on seasons whether it be transitioning from summer time to fall or just inventory clearance time in order to make room for new and/or improved products. Service providers are always looking for new clients or to maintain current clients by offering packages or lowering prices/ giving discounts for a period of time or for the longevity of the business relationship.

Strictly define what is quality as defined by customer not from the manufacturer. Sometimes the manufacturer tend to over define what is quality and added more procedures in the process that entails additional unnecessary cost. Just stick to what is clearly required by the customer. Analyze and optimize workflows. Reduce or prevent the 8 forms of waste: Defects-overproduction-waiting- non-utilized time/transportation/inventory/motion/ extra processing = DOWNTIME. Establish good partnership with suppliers to secure better pricing and terms. Lowering cost is not downright reduction of spending. It is about improving efficiency and this can be achieved through reduction or elimination of wastes and streamlining your production process.

Using the right tools can save time and reduce costs, while strong supplier relationships can get you better deals on quality materials. It’s a challenge, but it’s possible with the right approach.
