How can you demonstrate your collaborative skills in an AR development role?

Given the current state of interest around AR, it will be key to also articulate the key advantages of AR as a solution. It can be easy for people to want to use AR because of the buzz, but understanding the unique capabilities will help in developing a meaningful (and intentional) execution.

So, when discussing the project, sketching concepts, designing mockups, or generally collaborating, keep in mind how the immersion is helping reach the project's objectives.

Now is an exciting time to innovate with augmented reality as advances in wearables and 5G connectivity are converging to make AR experiences more diverse and reliable. Enterprise is beginning to understand the profound opportunities that exist in leveraging AR for collaboration, innovation, consumer engagement and business efficiencies. Digital twins are a salient example of how businesses can both work smarter and engage consumers more creatively. Be imaginative in your use of AR as it will expand the value proposition for your target audience.

Like any other project AR also need a well-thought project planning, and needs to consider more than ever the final users. When kicking off the project it’s crucial including a section where in a second moment you are going to deep dive into what are the current pain points of your users to really understand how can AR bridge some gaps. In my experience it also works really well to start with the goals and then chunk every part of the project, from deliverables to a timeline and an action plan. A well-made workshop with relevant stakeholder can give a strong bone to the project.

After years AR have comes to the mature point where we are and will soon see more and more of its application to real world. Whenever you talk about AR Project Output and technology platforms go hand in hand. After you decide on your target audience first thing to do is understand the platform where to publish it. If you want to connect to younger masses with minimal effects you can touch upon a thing like Insta/Snapchat i.e(SparkAR and similar platforms to build upon). If you want a fully featured one go with an Android/iOS native application or if you want to reach the masses without any dependency on any platform go with an open-source WebXR platform. And lastly, It's okay to shift your goalpost a bit if you are able to score at the end because at the end that's what counts.

Absolutely, understanding and supporting project goals is essential in Augmented Reality development. It means knowing what the project is all about, who it's for, and how it benefits people. Your role should clearly contribute to these goals, and teamwork is vital. Be open to change, use data to improve, and remember that your work should make people's lives better through AR.

In general a AR development will need storyboarding artists, UI UX artists, 3D modelers, animators , look dev artists and game engine engine developers. Today most of the work happen in a waterfall model where the assets from one team to another by pretty much exporting the assets. Subsequent corrections also goes thru similar export/import process which delays and introduces reworks. It enables designers and developers to collaborate in realtime thereby drastically reducing the time and cost of execution.

AR is still new to majority of customer and how to use / interact with is still a broad topic. Yet there are traditional ways that can carry on like Jira, Notion for task tracking. Git / Bitbucket for version control. And social media for feedback and customer communications. To be in the future the biggest communication with AR will stand between the UX / UI designer to development team because we are dealing with 3 dimensional spacing here. And there hardly any guideline about User Experience for this.

Slack and Trello are great ways to manage. But here is where you need to distinguish your approach what and with whom you want to communicate. For developers like us using 3DEngine-based collaborative tools is productive but when you come to the management of a project using things like JIRA and notion can make your manger life easy.

Agile in AR development is a great way to work together effectively. As a programmer, you can learn Agile by starting with online resources and then applying what you learn in your AR projects, getting feedback from your team and others. Join team meetings, and seek help from experienced colleagues. Keep learning, and you'll become a skilled Agile programmer, contributing to successful AR projects that benefit people.

At the very least, you should learn about the gold standards for DevOps and managing software projects, such as the Agile manifesto and Scrum. When developing for immersive technologies, you have to consider that many professionals won't be entirely familiar with how they're used, or why they should be developed as they are - so workforce alignment is key.

AR is evolving fast. Many AR projects we've worked on were first-of-a-kind, so it's important to research the potential risks and limitations beforehand and align this with the client. So when you do find problems or technical barriers, you'll already have an approved plan B or at least the room for creatively solving the problem.

Attention tunneling must also be considered during the design phase. Even though a user can see their surroundings with AR, it doesn't mean that they are fully aware of their environment. Which, sometimes can put the user in a dangerous situation.

In today world for me every one should have their own portfolio. Don't wait for a real project to have a taste on AR or other new technologies. It will be to late, start your own now and exploring all the possibilities. Share it with the world, build in public and your chance will come.

I dont see much relevance of this section to the title. I would suggest we remove this section completely. Also find the content a bit redundant .

If you have skills just go use 3.js kinda of stuff and make a statement out of your work and host it for others to see because people like to see to believe.

In the requirements gathering phase, try to understand your client's expectations and get to know if your client is aware of the potential challenges. AR projects can be challenging and complex. In some cases, implementing new features requires extra efforts like trial and testing, research, and workarounds. Understand your client first and the rest will fall like dominoes.

Usually, clients are already inspired by other AR projects that they have heard about or even tried for themselves. So a great first step is to gather lots of reference work, and don't forget to give credit where it's due. This way, they can see what's possible with AR, and start expanding on that. Then, move on to mocking up your own ideas for the project, for which Figma, Adobe Suite, and other prototyping tools can really come in handy.

Technology focus solution. Today people come with problems and then we try to solve them using Extended reality tech but What I propose is the other way around where you twike your product to fit the bill of what's needed.
