Any setbacks in any project has two aspects. the first is challenging - how to rectify. Failure and effect has to be evaluated and quantified. Fault tree analysis (FTA) can be applied with brain storming. Experience matters a lot here. A worse scenario will need extra work schedules and added costs. Calm down and analyze the situation. Panic and agitation disrupt constructive progress. Building team spirit, good communication, and sharing responsibility among appropriate team members is very important. The second is identifying root causes and learning process. Documentation of analysis, causes identified and sharing it in open forums will help others to do things proactively.

Firstly, I would re-evaluate new deadlines adjusting predetermined expectations into it having strong focus on capabilities of the current team as well as its new requirements. Secondly, I would be encouraging constant communication within the team members to understand revised strategy and expected outcomes. Worst situation I have had experience to see is long nonsense email to the team with tons of new details (even worse - instructions included with pictures🤨) ending with “if anything more to explain I am available through email or Teams” 😂
