In my experience engaging clients like that is a tell-tale sign that they have not thought through what their long term plans are beyond the current engagement. Hence they are unable to appreciate that the money spent is an investment towards their future profits. It's easier to convince clients when the costs are low but these are generally incremental improvements which naturally also bring in low returns. The real game changers are disruptive solutions that will allow your client to really stand out from their competition but it typically comes with a rather high cost
