In such cases, I would propose alternative approaches, such as increasing workforce, extending work hours, adjusting project phases, or delivering independent components ahead of schedule—all while adhering to industry standards. A collaborative review could help identify practical ways to accelerate deliveries without compromising safety or excellence.

It's a wrong assumption , that for quicker project completion we have to risk safety or quality... all three can go hand in hand . We need to think smart and bring in use of man and machines a best combination which always win together .

It is better to assess the risk first, then explain all hazard registered morally , financially and of course legally. Once we assessed it, then we can jump to low hazard controls to then high hazard control. By that we can proceed with meeting deadline and make sure everyone is safe. However, if we neglect the risk behind the operation and focus only on the project completion, high chance of failure will occur. So discussion with stakeholders and upper management is always optimal.

Walk away. Having the experience over 40 years in the industry on both sides of the planet. The stress on managing that risk pays a heavy toll. The adage of Time, Cost, Quality and you can choose only 2 applies well here. Do not compromise staff for profit or a clients desire for speed of completion. Arguing in a court of law on that point will not be enough!!!!

If the client wants to complete the project fast compromising safety, it should be made clear to the client the risks involved and the consequent likely adversaries. If the client still insists, additional resources and extra time would have to be deployed. However, the matter relating to client's insistence to complete the project quickly despite the safety risks needs to be documented appropriately. And the commercial aspects regarding deployment of additional resources may require to be negotiated with the client, depending on the potential of business opportunities and client relationship

Inform the client that prioritizing schedule over safety is unacceptable. Safety is paramount to any project, as it ensures the well-being of all workers. Emphasize to the client that compromising safety can lead to severe consequences, including accidents/fatalities, legal liabilities, and worst of all, damage to the company’s reputation – costs that no company can afford.

Safety on project work can't be compromised under any circumstances because this will cause legal liabilities and ultimately increases the project cost due to work delays and expected indemnifications. Possible ways to achieve quicker completion are: 1- Fast track some project activities if possible. 2- Add or adjust resources for critical path activities. 3- Reduce the scope or quality but after communicating with concerned stakeholders and preforming integrated change control process. 4- Get the team to work overtime. Needless to say that the management of accompanied risks should be performed for any of the abovementioned ways of acceleration.
