Situations are going to go south sometimes no matter how well you plan your event. For teams I oversee, we give them an extra 45 minutes of set up time just in case something unforeseen happens. With situations where things go, bad, be transparent, and honest as possible . Don’t make excuses, and tell the person that your goal at this point is to get things set up as soon as possible and you are happy to discuss once things are up and running. Emotions are definitely high with something like a wedding, so try to stay calm.

When the catering company is late at a high-profile event, quick thinking is key. Here’s how to handle the situation: 1️⃣ Communicate Calmly: Immediately contact the caterer to assess the delay and find out their ETA. 2️⃣ Engage the Audience: Keep guests engaged with entertainment or networking while you manage behind the scenes. 3️⃣ Leverage Backup Plans: Always have a contingency in place—such as snacks or beverages from a nearby vendor—to buy time. Events are unpredictable, but adaptability ensures success! #EventPlanning #CrisisManagement #Adaptability

If catering is delayed, communicate the situation to the guests proactively and offer alternative refreshments or activities to fill the gap. Coordinate with the event team to adjust the schedule if necessary, and work closely with the catering company to expedite service once they arrive. Transparency and quick thinking help maintain a positive guest experience.
