My take is....Do not manage costs implementing cut backs of inventory..Maintenance.. Reports of Cost effectiveness ly with minute updates, and repair inefficency. Repairs by mechanical staff fall short by inventory. If you want to manage Cost.. Lawsuits for Mechanical failure are number #1

Every penny saved adds to your sustainability, if not to the profitability in competitive markets as of the Airlines. Our product, the seats in the flying machine, needs first be safe, then be reliable and efficient and added to this are the elements of service and efficiency. The cost are sequentially prioritized. Safety needs balanced investment. Both over investment and underinvestment may render us bankrupt. Reliability is outcome of maintenance. This needs be optimized both in time and expenditure. Efficient maintenance planning with cost benefit optimization both for MRO facility and spares inventory are the keys. Fuel is about 40 % of operational cost, this need be optimized from sourcing and fuel burn viewpoints.
