You're striving for a promotion in Electronic Engineering. How can you showcase your value to the company?

When I was at this stage, I accelerated my career in Electronic Engineering by taking proactive steps. I developed cutting-edge skills like IoT, AI, and embedded systems, led high-impact projects, and demonstrated innovative problem-solving. By doing so, I was able to quantify my achievements and showcase my value to the company. You too can adopt these strategies to boost up your career as an Electronic Engineer.

I found that this can also be done by attending related seminars or presentations at your local engineering institute, most are free and very insightful. Showcasing you are actively learning and developing is critical

Absolutely agree, and getting others in your team or project to reflect about your leadership in retrospectives for example makes you a better leader. Also sometimes leading a project or being deeply involved may open other doors, you may get some exposure, PR, opportunity to engage with your customers even more, resulting in a passionate involvement in the project

I think by mentoring colleagues, you're not only helping them grow, but you're also proving your leadership skills and willingness to elevate the team's overall performance. When you guide others, you reinforce your own knowledge and show that you’re committed to the long-term success of the company.

I find this one can be a hard one. Innovating and executing that innovation is not hard, the hard thing in my opinion is decide who you present it with, and that’s down to you and the innovation. If you come up with an idea on your own, you worthier peruse it yourself and promote yourself, or you seek opportunities to showcase to your leadership at work. The later may get you further and is less risky, plus could make it easier to get funding if you need that, but you may loose the intellectual property and will mostly benefit the company, not always yourself. Innovating publicly can get you a ton of exposure but you risk it not being heard by the right people. In either case, I think do what feels right for your career!

Absolutely, I do this regularly, balance successes with failure, or turn failures into success stories once you make it so. LinkedIn is also a powerful tool for story telling, tell the world your story, thank your manager publicly for supporting you, that will get there attention!
