The piece that isn't mentioned is that you should target companies that meet with your "non-negotiables" - those things that you MUST have in a role/company for you to be successful and feel fulfilled. These non-negotiables can be anything from the option for hybrid/WTH flexibility, size/location of the company, products/services, revenue, industry, etc. Once you know what you're looking for - you'll be better positioned to find it.
