Communication is important for any business success, however, during periods of transition, changes in strategic direction, or periods of uncertainty, communication becomes the number one critical tool to ensuring everyone stays focussed. While generic communication is good, regular structured one-on-one meetings with direct reports, from the top to the bottom of the organisation, become critical to ensuring everyone is on the same page and understand their role in the changes, and to ensuring those making the decisions identify weaknesses, training requirements, and other important feedback. At the end of the day it comes down to consistent and purposeful communication - and lots of it.

- Identify the team members that are empaths (feeling focused, others aware, and so on...) bring them into a conversation about the strategic change and hear all their concerns and pushback. It may take some time, but once you've convinced the empaths the direction shift ahead is the best way to go, they will carry your message for you with effectiveness and be your loyal supporters against any dissenters.
