A positive outlook helps you through frustrating processes or experiences. I advocate for always keeping in mind WHY the project/program or activity is needed in the first place. Leading with the objective helps you see things from a broader perspective charging you through such hurdles.

The mind is the light of a man just as the eyes is the light of the body. Mentality affects possibility and opportunities. The mindset will serve as a catalyst to expidate change in any Facet of life in our community. I advocate for More senisitization in our community as regarding mindset. #growthand grit mind set is possible if well harnessed.

Navigating bureaucratic hurdles in community organizing can be frustrating, but my motivation remains alive by staying focused on the impact we aim to create. I remind myself of the individuals and communities that benefit from our work, keeping the bigger picture in mind. Each small victory, whether a policy change or a community-driven initiative, reinforces the importance of persistence. Building strong relationships with team members and allies who share the same passion also energizes me to push forward. The challenges are part of the journey, and overcoming them makes the successes even more rewarding.

Remember why you're doing what you're doing. Keep your eye on the vision you're creating. Breathe through the hurtles and take breaks as needed to replenish your enthusiasm and passion. This energy will be contagious and show in your communications are you face challenges.

Staying motivated while navigating bureaucratic hurdles in community organizing, especially in a challenging context, requires a strong sense of purpose and resilience. Navigating red tape is frustrating, but having a positive mindset, creating positive relationships with key stakeholders and not being overcome by the frustration can help. Remember why you are doing it? Remember who will benefit and remember that you navigating the red tape to provide source of hope for someone.

Look for the little victories and take time to honor appointments. Come together to encourage and value self care. The work is tough.

The important thing for me if I am involved in doing community service is to help as many people as I can. Working with community service and being involved with all the activities is a joy and blessings given to me and an opportunity to share my knowledge and give hope to people. Share what you have and help what you can do. As long as I am happy doing what I do, I will not be affected of other negative things. Always remember your main purpose serving people, giving joy and hope.

Navigating the hurdles is the hardest part. First I need to know their focus or the most important issue that concerns them. If i know that, may somewhere along the way, there may be something my Volunteers or I can add/ invite or Include that will begin to bring about change in their perception of our projects or organization.

I definitely agree that a positive perspective is an asset in many ways. It aids in decision making and it can also be viable to life's vicissitudes. It's a mandatory way of life for me that I apply daily.

I wholeheartedly agree that breaking down larger objectives into smaller, manageable tasks is vital in community organizing. Through my experience working with Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia, I've seen this approach yield significant results, particularly during our census campaign. By focusing on incremental goals, such as building coalition partnerships, hosting community events, and developing targeted outreach materials, we successfully rallied the Haitian community and amplified their voice in Philadelphia.

Realistic goals can be done by doing the following: - Learning the local context of the partner - Weighing their current resources versus current demands - Presenting current resources for mobilization - Vet targets and objectives based on historical achievements and institutional capacity - Present and negotiate with all stakeholders the objectives - Retweak as necessary and then work with partners until targets are met - If goals are unmet, then retweak using new data from initial deployment building momentum

I would say that navigating bureaucratic hurdles in community organizing can indeed be stressfull, but when one stays motivated then one is able to maintain a clear sense of purpose.This I do by for example Celebrate Milestones: Bureaucratic processes can drag on, but every small step forward is worth celebrating however little or small. Whether it’s securing a meeting that seemed hard to slot, passing a regulation through a government entity/office, or gaining community support, recognizing these wins gives me the motivation to push on!

Estabelecer metas realistas é essencial para manter a motivação ao enfrentar obstáculos burocráticos em organizações comunitárias. Metas claras e alcançáveis ajudam a evitar frustrações, reforçando o progresso. Dividir grandes objetivos em etapas menores torna o processo mais gerenciável, cada avanço alimentando a motivação. Priorize o que é essencial, focando nas metas com maior impacto. Flexibilidade é vital para ajustar prazos conforme surgem imprevistos. Definir prazos tangíveis e alinhar metas com os recursos disponíveis mantém o processo viável. Revisar e ajustar metas regularmente garante adaptação e eficácia.

I would add here that it’s important to push ourselves into our learning zone a bit as well. To push a little harder than the most easy wins. And to give ourselves and our direct reports the room to not fully hit the goal in one evaluation cycle if the work is building momentum and foundations towards greater things. We get caught up in metrics without looking at other factors far too often and when building leaders, this is very detrimental.

It’s all about relationships! Be accessible, helpful and share resources. Find a mentor and then be one. Be grateful to those who share important lessons and then pay it forward.

Relationships are more precious than gold to a community organizer. Build them, nurture them, and build collective power together. Power takes money or collaboration and when you are light on the first, there’s always the second. Collaboration requires trust. Trust requires relationships that go a little deeper than the surface. My favorite relationship building tactic is to break bread with people. Have a meal together. It can be sandwich at someone’s kitchen table, nothing fancy. Sharing a meal brings people together in a way few other tactics can.

One thing that I found very helpful is networking and sharing certain information with other organizations. Networking allows one organization to do the work of many organizations by reaching out and helping each other.

Ways to build relationships: - Formalize the initial contact - Meet decision makers and explain the intention of the partnership - Meet deputy staff and team members to learn more about the detail of their operations - Be genuine about your intention to maintain relationship for a project or a request - Meet regularly and update them with progress - Formalize any agreement including expected roles of both parties - Give credit where credit is due and do not fail to recognize partners for their efforts - Invite them to co-lead and presentation, co-facilitate any event

Build relationships not just with the folks working in the systems you're attempting to navigate, but with those who have navigated these hurdles in the past. Learn from their experiences - their successes and their mistakes. Listening to the stories of others will help you figure out where your path lays ahead.

Railing at the wrong leader is a waste of passion. Homework is smart for all kinds of reasons, including that it can prevent you feeling like a dummy in the end!

Get started by learning the table of organization and learning where the formal and informal reporting structures are found. Read the formal guidelines and learn where flexibility exists and where it does not! Get out of your cubicle and head to the informal meeting places - lunchroom, water cooler or meet up after hours. Listen and learn with those you find aligned and trustworthy. Document your process and compare it to protocols - what did you miss? Learn? What would you change for next time?

Build a systems map - figure out what decisions are made at what level. Cold call people and just ask questions - don't assert your opinion, let them share their perspective from where they're sitting and figure out where you can fit within what they say.

Celebrating progress is so important, especially for leaders and emerging leaders. Intentionally recognizing and sharing credit with colleagues, direct reports, volunteers, and partners at each step along the way toward your goal builds momentum and keeps folks engaged in the process. In community organizing, the work is never ending and can feel overwhelming, making it too easy to focus on what needs to be done next. But taking the time to highlight what is working and how far you've come will give you the fuel to keep moving forward.

Part of celebrating the progress may include inviting governing leaders to your event. Take this time to share the milestones of your endeavor while explaining what the future holds and how they are a critical part of the process. In this way, you get to set up connections that you can utilize in the future.

Continuous Learning: Staying informed about best practices and policy changes empowers me to adapt effectively. Self-Care: Prioritizing personal well-being ensures sustained energy and commitment. By embracing these approaches, I remain resilient and effective in my community organizing efforts.

When the bureaucratic and other hurdles threaten to overwhelm us, because both the Israeli and the Palestinian authorities really don't want, welcome or facilitate civil society empowerment or activity, I have a favourite saying I share with my Palestinian colleagues and others: "Why is this so difficult? Because we're doing the impossible." So flexibility isn't just about remaining resourceful or adaptable: it's also about turning the light, i.e. spiritually rising above, having the flexibility to rise up and not be dragged down into despair, defeat, apathy or giving up. Being aware and free enough to CHOOSE one's response. Getting past the ego needs, the habits or automatic responses. To be flexibly determined. Stubborn yet 100% aware..

one thing that I found helpful in always being flexible is a problem can occur at anytime and it’s important to have someone to reach out too.

A tree which bends itself can even survive a storm...a parcel of water changes the form of itself can survive in any kind of terrain. Flexibility does the same im difficult environment. Try to be good and customised to move ahead for greater good.
