In my experience managing sports events over the past few 12 years, I found it useful to apply the principles of stakeholder management using Mendelow's matrix as a guide to create a conducive environment within the event and mitigate any issues that might arise in the workplace. Conflict is handled in the privacy of the conflicting parties swiftly with a reminder on the importance of the role each member plays to contribute to the achievement of the objective. Anything that needs an escalation is factored in in a timely manner to reduce the impact of a team member's absence thus ensuring that the event can go on as conflict is being resolved at a higher level.
