As part of my approach to site investigations, I involve local graduate geologists, mentoring them in accurate data recording and analysis. I also coordinate effectively with local geological experts, utilizing regional data, maps, and insights. I also guide our geologsit graduate team to thoroughly understand the project requirements, ensuring all work aligns with the project's geological and technical objectives.

Obviously go to the literature and find the conferences held in whatever country you are working in My experience in Indonesia was IPA volumes put out every year that had paoers on Regional Exploration and Reservoir Geology. The other great source was field trip guidebooks that may have been published Best Human source were professirs at the Universities and their students We sometimes went to the field with them and not only were they great encyclopdeias of Geology they were our translators and guides My favorite trip was to Sumba with a grad student from Bandung University He was great !! You can contact the State Oil Companies like Pertamina or Petronas and ask to make contact with their Geology staff

The first trend is to include local experts and literature. But depending on the area of expertise within geology, being restricted to pre-established concepts and "truths" may be the shortest way to avoid reaching a new place. So I believe that each case is different; Sometimes the traditional recipe will work well, but when it comes to new concepts and technologies, we have to give limited weight to the experience, otherwise the new one doesn't get space.

I have been with geoscience since 60s and had wide exposure in field, laboratory and publication domains! I must know the geology of the overseas project terrain along with the project nature and target, the geology of that country( must already be knowing a little) and would concentrate on overlapping my experience on the terrain type(sedi., metamorphic, igneous or a mixture , and whether Precambrian or later )and structurally or else challenging!
