In hazardous fieldwork conditions, prioritize safety while maintaining open communication with the client. Inform them of the challenges promptly, explaining how they affect timelines or deliverables. Offer alternative solutions, such as remote work or adjustments to the project plan, to minimize delays. Reinforce your commitment to the project and provide regular updates to manage expectations. Always ensure safety standards are non-negotiable.

Cut your losses! If a client is pushing you to make unsafe choices for your staff and yourself. Make it clear you will only work within the law. If it cost's you more and the price is agreed, take the hit and do it properly, maybe you can try can get some more money to cover it but if you cant ensure you are safty first. If they are still pushing you, done be afraid to walk away. They are not respectful and they are not the clients you want even if you thought they were a dream client before.

During a project involving hazardous fieldwork, unexpected conditions emerged, impacting timelines. I immediately reassessed the situation and communicated openly with the client, explaining the risks and necessary adjustments. By outlining a revised plan that ensured both safety and progress, I aligned expectations without compromising the project's integrity. This transparency reassured the client, showing that their goals were still a priority, even in the face of challenges.

Don't promise more than you can deliver, as this causes frustration and damages your image with the client. But don't promise so little that the client feels they don't need your services, as this will affect their expectations. Create plans and procedures to minimize or eliminate hazards, considering approaches such as engineering measures, safe working practices, training and employee awareness.

Offer a clear assessment of risks, safety considerations, and potential alternatives to keep the project on track. Emphasize that safety is the top priority, and outline the steps you’re taking to address the situation. Provide realistic adjustments to the timeline and keep them updated on progress. Demonstrate your commitment to delivering high-quality results despite the circumstances, building trust through honesty and a solution-focused approach.
