Adjusting positioning (and the marketing driven by positioning) should not be taken lightly or reactionarily. The first question is whether its the execution that needs to be adjusted or the strategy (positioning). If the market dynamics can be addressed through updated campaign messaging and creative, then stay true to the positioning and focus on quickly updating the execution. Ensure that the changes will drive the ROI needed to pay for the shift. If the dynamics require a more fundamental change in the positioning, then start with whether the target has changed or if their needs have changed. Are the Brand's pillars and core still relevant? This will give direction on where to focus change efforts.
