Scope changes are generally driven by business stakeholders who probably want something additional or different to what was requested earlier. In this case, it is imperative to act as a bridge between solution provider (vendor) and business stakeholders to arrive at a mutual timeline & budget owing to scope changes. Business partners should be intimated well in advance of any delays or budget increases that will be required for modified scope of work that has been requested. A good way to track these changes are a scope document and corresponding Gantt charts with defined objectives, owners, risks and buffer in timelines. Furthermore, any deviations should be noted and called out in weekly connects so that it doesn’t come a shock later.
