Conflicting opinions on team goals aren’t a problem. They’re an opportunity. I believe everyone doesn’t need to be on the same page right away. Mixed opinions bring different perspectives, and analyzing them carefully helps identify the best path forward.

In my experience, I encourage various perspectives that reflect diverse solutions, so everyone is part of and feels substantively valued. I have fostered open dialogues that be mutually beneficial but constructively aligned with team members' goals. By ensuring shared goals are reflected, enables active and equal participation from the entire team, thus mitigating any potential conflicting opinions.

The most important thing is to listen. Listening is what makes people believe in you, so when you put your point across and explain it, and try to understand their perspective, the best outcomes evolve. Always make sure that the other persons are valued equally and their views are taken respectfully. That's how you can make sure that everyone is on the same page.

Open dialogue and active communication is important in ensuring all team members feel included. The exchange of ideas and opinions must lead to an alignment in the overall vision of the company and not individual goals only. The business has an overall goal that feeds into smaller tasks for the team. So regardless of the differences there needs to be alignment on how to get to that common business goal. Conflict that may arises from differences is actually good for having an inclusive and diverse way of thinking. So the focus should be on how each opinion can contribute to the overall goal instead.

Once, a team member and I had differing opinions on a matter, but we needed to find a solution together. We decided to first write down our individual perspectives and the reasoning behind them. Afterward, we discussed our viewpoints openly, looking for common ground and similar underlying principles. By identifying areas of agreement, we were able to collaboratively find the best solution. In the end, we successfully moved forward with a unified approach, having aligned our opinions.
