More often than not, it isn't as big a dilemma. Understanding that live events REQUIRE access levels, and specifically for safety reasons that can save future troubles. This chain of command helps siphon out chaos in unwanted situations. Having said that, if you come across situations where you believe you should have certain access, and you don't have one, calmly explain and see if it can be mitigated with reason, which usually works. A more sure-shot but last resort of solving this is using the hierarchical strings, especially contacting the managerial sorts who could help assess and process the situation. Use judgment to see which path to take.

Restrictions are a common occurrence in events where access is dependant on scope of service provided by each staff member. Simply put, if you're not working or have responsibilies within a restricted area then they shouldn't have access. Explaining in staff orientations that restrictions are in place to control foot traffic, media and/or other reasons, can squash any potential problems before they start. Lastly, if members are complaining about limited access without good reasons, then they probably have too much time on their hands or shouldn't be working within the events industry! Keep your team informed, productive and happy!
