We should think in a way that adding the features by optimising the cost for manufacturing. We have to do deep changes in the manufacturing sector to reduce the cost without loosing modernization.

Along with designing for performance & reliability, also comes on how materials interact with consumer touchpoints, especially in terms of Color, Material, & Finish (CMF), influencing brand perception & user experience. For example, instead of expensive paint finishes, designers creatively employ innovative surface treatments or textures that provide the same premium feel or perception at lower cost without compromising reliability. Strategically balancing these factors requires understanding consumer touchpoints & exploring new material technologies to deliver unique experiences within budget constraints.

Designers when creatively ensure DFM, Integrating how a vehicle will be built during the concept stage saves time, reduces costly iterations, & ensures efficient design realization. Highcost manufacturing offer exciting possibilities, but their relevance depends on the product & the customer’s used cases. If it’s a matter of cost-effectiveness without sacrificing consumer experiences, Designers have to design for the product keeping alternative cost effective DFM methods. At the end the consumer doesn’t care whether a part was hydroformed or not—they care about how the vehicle makes them feel & whether it delivers on its promise. This is where design strategy comes in— where designers map the DFM to design intent and customer expectations.
