You're aiming to cut carbon emissions in oil and gas. How can you team up for innovative solutions?
In the quest to lower carbon footprints, the oil and gas sector must innovate and unite for change. Here's how to spark collaborative solutions:
- Invest in research and development (R&D) to find cleaner technologies.
- Foster partnerships with green tech companies to integrate sustainable practices.
- Encourage knowledge sharing across organizations to disseminate best practices.
What strategies do you think can help achieve these goals? Share your insights.

You are working on the assumption that there is a need to lower carbon (translation CO2) emissions. The All CO2, All the Time alarmist narrative holds that CO2 is responsible for a minor warming of average global temperatures (1.07 C, according to the IPCC). What they cannot put forward is an empirical CO2/temperature dataset that shows CO2 driving the climate on any statistically significant historical time scale (a very basic Scientific Method requirement). Lack of scientific proof notwithstanding, the proposals make no economic sense. Hundreds of trillions of dollars of taxpayer debt to reduce temperature rise with a high end estimate of 0.28 C, is a burden our children and grandchildren do not need. There is NO climate emergency!

Knowledge exchange is the key here. Emissions reduction is an important thing for everyone! Share your successes at industry events with your peers, attend industry events to learn from your peers! As a follow up, companies should have regular cross-department knowledge sharing sessions to see if any learnings can be applied.

Adopt a pragmatic approach and develop a mindset with innovative technologies, operational efficiencies and regulatory compliance. Utilise Carbon Capture and Storage (CCUS) to overcome the emissions from industrial processes, refineries and natural gas processing facilities, etc etc. Shift to cleaner renewable energy such as wind or solar power generation. Avoid flaring or venting of natural gas. Make strategies for Net Zero Carbon emissions. Educate oil and gas industry professionals on the importance and measures required for global Climate Change and utilization of Carbon Capture and Storage. Government authorities need to be aligned for a sustainable global economy linked to CO2 reduction.
