The first step in addressing resistance to adopting a technology is understanding the why behind the hesitation. It is important to listen actively to understand what they value in the current solution and what would be of enough value to get them to invest in enablement and change. Once the reason behind the resistance is clear, it’s important to take it into account and explain how the new technology connects to their pains, motivations and goals, and the problems it will solve. I find it helpful to start with a focus group that may serve to showcase the success and results of that team and, later, as champions. Offer enablement and support, preferably instructor led (not self paced), a KB, and transparency throughout the whole journey.
