Clear communication about the reason for this transition is very important. Otherwise it just becomes a very redundant task for the team. Once they know what benefit it will give to customers and how this revised design/technology is benefiting everyone, they feel more motivated to work on it. Also, my assumption is that product transition will be in the direction of a newer technology/product, which itself gives a great learning opportunity to the team and keep them up-to date with the latest happenings.
