With all due respect, if you are a small business owner, you do not have the time or resources to build an effective email campaign. Because you are already stretched beyond by wearing all the hats to run a successful small business. Email today in my humble opinion is looked upon as junk, get rich scams, and unfortunately spam. My solution, based on personal experience after trying an email campaign years ago is direct mail, it is old school, I know but for my small business, it's been effective. The key, is to have an inviting tag line on the outside of the envelope to entice the person to open the envelope. My tag line..."Thank You, for the Opportunity to be of Service... Inside, 5 business cards, that's it!

Events Leverage: By hosting workshops or any other local events, I got to capture the emails of people interested in my business. My Website Optimization: A visible, easy sign-up form with an obvious incentive helps them subscribe. Collaborate Locally: Partnering with businesses that complement yours gives you better opportunity to get in front of their audience and grow your list much faster. These strategies helped me build an engaged email list which was converted into loyal customers.

Ask for the business from your current customers and ask for introductions to their friends, family.... This is always the most overlooked segment of any business growth plan- existing clients. The fastest method to get more customers and shorten the time it takes to get them to buy is to incentive your current customer base to introduce your company, products, services to their networks. It also lessens the cost to acquire. First ask for intros then if not enough responses; incentive the offer with discounts. The key is to make it simple for them to do this especially on social media. Create templates they can use or codes to track its effectiveness. Also another reason we always stress building real relationships with your clients.

Email lists are important. Too often I see people purchase lists that are, in theory, potential clients. But that would work if it were 2004. Today you need to understand who your best and worst clients are so that you gather emails to create a list that will be impactful. What are the elements of what you offer that resonate with your highest revenue customers? Provide content on this topic. The two most important things to remember: 1.Make it snackable (digestable in just a few minutes). 2. Give them useful information they can apply right away. Create a landing page/sign-up form that connects to a resource with more in-depth insight sent via email. This increases the odds that those prospects resemble your best clients.
