I would say, no matter how overwhelming the workload gets, never sacrifice these: - Exercise (even if it's a 15-minute walk) - Sleep well (at least a 7h night sleep) - Stay hydrated - Eat well

Identify tasks others can handle and share the workload to ease pressure. Delegation allows you to focus on high priority work and prevents unnecessary stress from trying to do everything yourself.

Maintain good relationship with all the stakeholders, apart from time management. Learn to say 'No' effectively. This is one of the best practices told in one of the initial trainings I have attended thru Satyam. We need to practice the same and implement to possible extent.

When individuals and the team as a whole is feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work, I have found all too often that people push past their ability to stay focused on the task at hand, resulting in diminishing productivity per unit of time and reduced creativity. Taking a break from the desk for some form of light physical activity while changing environments is a great way to avoid this problem. Doing so as a team offers the opportunity to break from the monotony of work and offers the opportunity to foster dialogue around creative problem solving. A team walk outside when the weather allows can do wonders for the mind and individuals can learn to integrate mindful breathing practices that can be done anywhere to manage stress.

By the on-going practice of self-awareness you are able to recognize the level of self-care for the situation. A way to manage overwhelming work loads is to first manage yourself and integrate self care into your day. 1. Use time blocking techniques and limit distractions as you work (i.e. work uninterupted for 25 minutes and then take a short break). 2. Move throughout the day (stand up, walk, squats, are lift) after sitting for an hour. 3 Drink lots of water 4. Limit carbs, alcohol and caffeine. 5. Manage up and down - discuss your limits and concerns with supervisor/team. Hope this helps!

First, as I read the previous contributors are all accurate and I don't want to just say what they said. BUT, I want to encourage you to think outside of the box and work remotely from a location that brings you peace. Change geography and still work. I know that it sounds counter productive, but it is not. We do the same things daily and wonder why we can't get control. When I go to a cabin or other place and take my laptop and projects and work remotely, even for 1 day, it takes me out of what I am doing and changes the dynamics. My mind shifts so I am at a peaceful location and then I can think clearly and am usually a lot more creative. It allows me the peace to slow down and prioritize. It also provides self care.
